The theme scripture for our 11th Soul Sistas weekend in Bowral was Psalm 119:105 ‘Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path’. We all arrived on Friday night and broke the ice with a quick game of 'speed dating' and of course supper and fellowship.
On Saturday morning after Body Balance class and breakfast we had our Saturday morning workshop where we enacted a play before breaking into small groups. We looked at the book of Esther, how the Lord used her, and how we have all been created for such a time as this. We shared testimonies about our times when we had to ‘be an Esther’. One thing I’ve taken home from the weekend was that we all have moments where we need to be brave and step out in faith but we also have times when we can be a bit disobedient like Queen Vashti. During each of these times God is able to use us as part of his plan. We were looking at the directions that we choose. God will show us the way but we still must choose the direction our feet go. The activities in the afternoon were all sorts of fun games involving direction.
On Saturday night we dressed up for ‘Arabian Nights’, and enjoyed a zumba class before a Moroccan style dinner of figs, grapes, blue cheese, rice, food cooked in tagines, salads and hot mulled non alcoholic wine. Dinner was served on low tables with cushions scattered on the floor. Net curtains, candles and fairy lights created a magical experience.
On Sunday morning after Body Balance and breakfast, there was horse riding for some and fellowship for others. In our meeting we enjoyed testimonies and singing, then we took communion together and operated the spiritual gifts of tongues, interpretation and prophecy (1 Corinthians 14:26-31).
Altogether it was a wonderful weekend of good fellowship and plenty of exercise, both spiritual and physical - a big thank you to all who worked so hard to make it happen.
‘If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret... Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge. ’ 1 Corinthians 14:27-29
