Spiritually uplifted, but physically exhausted is probably how I felt, as we reluctantly said our farewells from the annual Soul Sistas Camp, that was held at Canyonleigh, located near Moss Vale, NSW.This year’s camp was the 10th anniversary of the Soul Sistas camp, which was started by some young women in the Canberra fellowship who saw a need to provide an opportunity for the younger women to come away together from life’s daily pressures to build friendships and connections with other like-minded women and encourage each other in their spiritual walk.
As usual, we had lots and lots of fun and laughs! Many faced their fears (or took a step of faith?) by putting on a helmet and harness stepping out into thin air high above the ground on the “Power Fan”. Others showed their competitive streaks by competing in various other crazy and challenging activities…. well done Purple team!.
Among the weekend’s activities was a movie-making team challenge where we had just 20 minutes to make a movie about ‘Letting our Light Shine’ – based on the theme scripture of the camp (Matthew 5:14-16). The resulting films were amazingly creative and funny! Of course the theme dinner on Saturday was once more a highlight of the weekend - this year the theme was ‘Medieval Masquerade’ – the picture speaks for itself as everyone looked just fantastic.
We also shared testimonies with each other, prayed, sang and encouraged and uplifted each other through wonderful sisterly fellowship. The weekend reminded me again of how fortunate we are to have the blessing of God in our lives and to have the opportunity to share such precious moments with our spiritual sisters.
Sadly it is over for another year – but our hope and prayer is that the impact will last for a long, long time in the hearts and minds of those who came and to those around us that see our light shining!
