Our Story

The Canberra Revival Fellowship is part of a worldwide group of people from all races, walks of life, age groups and social backgrounds that share a common experience through belief in the Bible being the inspired Word of God.

As the name of our fellowship suggests, we stand for revival - revival of people's lives through the revival of the Bible salvation message.

Our vision is simply to preach the full Gospel of Jesus Christ with the expectation of the Bible-specified 'signs following', as described in Mark 16:15-20. In doing so, we seek to make known the full benefits of salvation to people all around the globe.

Throughout this website you’ll read stories of ordinary people from all corners of the globe who have had their sins forgiven once and for all, who have been healed, who have had their lives renewed, and who have discovered a wonderful new life as a Spirit-filled Christian.

The Christian church began almost 2,000 years ago when the apostles gathered together, waiting and praying for 'the promise of the Father'. That occurred when they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with 'other tongues' (Acts 2:4).

It was the Holy Spirit experience that empowered and changed the lives of the early Christians. It became an unstoppable force, with men and women willing to lay down their lives rather than deny God or stop preaching the gospel.

We claim to be a 21st century version of that church first established and described in the book of Acts. We believe we can be so bold in that statement because we continue to see people filled with the Holy Spirit today, just as the apostles were. We also see many miracles and 'signs following' as described and proscribed by Christ for His church.

In Australia, a major Pentecostal movement then began just after the Second World War, with a number of new churches emerging. The Revival Fellowship came out of that revival in the late 1940s, bringing a fresh understanding of the need for salvation by grace, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the importance of Bible prophecy.

Our church in Canberra started with one family who were filled with the Holy Spirit in Geelong and moved to Canberra in 1958. God confirmed their ministry with 'signs following' - many remarkable healings, men and women were also filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues as described by the Bible and as occurred during all the great revivals down through the ages.

Our first meetings were held in a run-down hall at Corroboree Park in Ainslie, but as the church grew we moved into a new building near the Hackett shops. Further growth meant moving again to new premises in Chandler Street, Belconnen and we have been there since 1978.

In 1998 we built a second hall in Chisholm to cater for the growing number of families living in the Tuggeranong and Queanbeyan regions. Since that time men and women have moved away from Canberra to plant and grow churches in Sydney, Wollongong, Goulburn and Wagga.

Others have moved out from our associated fellowships in Melbourne and Adelaide to England, Europe and the USA. The gospel has also spread to Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, Brazil, India, South East Asia and Africa.

There continues to be a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit in these last days, and we in Canberra are excited to be part of this 'last days' harvest.

‘Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.’ Acts 2 v 38
